A journalist and storyteller for more than thirty years, Jon Williams was RTÉ’s Managing Director of News & Current Affairs from 2017 until last year. He led the creative renewal of RTÉ News, leading its reporting on radio, on TV and online, and its transformation into a ‘digital-first’ news organisation.

Jon spent a decade leading the global coverage for two of the world’s biggest broadcasters, first for the BBC and then for the US broadcaster ABC, based in New York, winning three Emmy ® Awards for reporting from the Middle East. He serves on the boards of Committee to Protect Journalists, and the Rory Peck Trust, supporting freelance journalists in times of crisis.
